Some spaces just need someone to think through the details. The area under and around a deck is a perfect example - it tends to get ignored, ends up looking rough, and becomes a maintenance headache. Here, we came in with a clear plan: define the space, dress it up, and make sure it holds up long-term without constant upkeep.
We used a clean paver block border to establish the bed line and give the whole area a structured, finished look. That border does more than just look sharp - it keeps the decorative stone in place, holds back grass from creeping in, and gives the planting area a clear edge that's easy to maintain. It curves naturally with the layout of the space, which is something we pay close attention to. Straight lines are easy. Getting a border to flow well takes a little more thought.
Inside the border, we laid decorative stone as the ground cover and worked in fresh plantings throughout the bed. The combination of stone and plants is one of our go-to approaches for low-maintenance landscaping. The stone suppresses weeds, retains moisture, and doesn't need replacing like mulch does. The plants add color and life without demanding a lot from the homeowner.
The result is a space that looks intentional. That's really what curb appeal comes down to - not just having plants or stone, but having everything work together in a way that looks like it belongs there.
