Some areas around a home just sit there. No real purpose, no real look - just a patch of bare dirt, loose gravel, and a concrete step that's seen better days. That's exactly what we were working with here before we got started.

We used Belgard pavers to build out a clean, large patio surface right off the side of the house. The layout flows naturally from the structure and connects the space in a way that actually makes sense for how the homeowner uses the area. It's functional, not just decorative.

The landscaping ties it all together. Fresh planting beds with dark mulch, ornamental grasses, shrubs, and small accent plants frame the patio on both sides. A curved paver border runs along the gravel driveway edge, giving the whole space a defined, finished boundary. That curved edging detail alone does a lot - it separates the landscape from the drive cleanly without looking rigid.

What we ended up with is a side yard that actually invites you to use it. The bench that was sitting on that old slab now has a real space to belong in. Solar path lights tucked throughout the beds add some warmth and dimension once the sun goes down. It went from a forgotten side yard to one of the better spots on the property.

This is the kind of work we really enjoy - taking an area that feels unfinished and building something with structure, greenery, and a purpose behind every decision. Paver patios and landscaping work best when they're planned together, and that's exactly how we approached this one.
